Colloidal Silver for Acne Treatment

Does colloidal silver cure acne? Or is it just another acne treatment scam?

Colloidal silver is heavily touted on the web as to cure acne. I’ve tested colloidal silver acne treatment thoroughly. Here are my findings…

Colloidal silver – what it is

Colloidal silver is silver that is processed usually with electricity in a specific way to make it into a colloidal state. Which simply means its “particle” sizes are so small the silver stays suspended in liquid.

Silver in this colloidal state has unique properties…

Because the particles are so small they move in and out of the walls of cells readily. This not only make is highly adsorbable by cells, but also it prevents it from building up to toxic levels. Any excess colloidal silver will simply “pass through” the cell wall and be flushed out of the system.

That’s why colloidal silver can’t poison you.

But what’s more interesting is silver in the ultra fine particle size of colloids has a very large surface area. And when bacteria, viruses, and fungus come into contact with the colloidal silver particles the silver kills them.

And what’s more interesting is it will kill the harmful organisms without harming any healthy cellular tissue.

So you can see colloidal silver is very useful for so many things. But does it cure acne?

Colloidal silver acne treatment – Does it work?

I’ve tested colloidal silver for acne treatment thoroughly. I’ve tested various brands, doses, and potencies. I tested it both internally and externally. I even bought a colloidal silver generator and made my own colloidal silver using several different methods and tried to cure acne with that.

And I can tell you from thorough direct testing that colloidal silver does NOT cure acne. And it has not proven to even help with acne symptoms.

Sorry…wish I had better news.

But why not? If colloidal silver kills bacteria why can’t it cure acne?

The basic reason is even though colloidal silver may be killing acne bacteria it is not “fixing” the ROOT problem causing acne. Acne bacteria do not cause acne. (See The Acne Bacteria Myth to understand why.)

And no acne bacteria killers whether its synthetic acne anti-biotics or acne topical creams, or even natural bacteria killers like colloidal silver can cure acne.

They just can’t.

So use colloidal silver where it has been proven effective. But don’t waste your money if you’re trying to cure acne with colloidal silver as an acne alternative treatment. It won’t work.

  1. Interesting article, thanks for sharing. I have used colloidal silver as a mineral supplement, but this is the first article I’ve read about using it for acne treatment.

it doesn’t work as an acne treatment!

  3. Silver? says:

Silver is currently being used to kill the bacteria, however when used directly in skin can cause your skin to be colored and you may observe black regions after a while. This will be a permenant coloring. I do not recommend you to use it.

at, that is only the case for the large particle size. It is not true of the extremly small size. I used 10 000 ppm on my face, and it works. For the first time since I was 11 years old, I no longer have acne.

This is my story…In November of 09 I noticed a red bump on the side of my face that no matter what I put on it or did to it, (oxy, clearasil, witch hazel, tea tree oil, salicylic acid, aloe vera gel, and numerous home made remedies) It would not go away! So I lived with it for a few months and decided to cut it open! well that didn’t work, it just got worse. So I thought I would just have to live with it forever, In June I ended up at the docs with a sinus infection and had him look at the “bump” on my face as well. He said it seemed to be an acne cyst and that it would eventually go away on its own. It had already been there for 8 months! anyway after I did a round of antibiotics for my sinus infection (they didn’t work at all) I went to the health food store for an alternative. I found out about colloidal silver and bought it! In 2 days my sinus infection was pretty much gone!
Then one night I was looking at the bottle sitting on my dresser and thought, hey I could try this on the bump! So I put one drop on the bump and rubbed it in. I then went to bed and forgot all about it until the next night, I was looking in the mirror and noticed a weird dark hole on the “bump” all my instincts said squeeze, and then WOW all this oil came pouring out like nothing Ive ever seen! The cyst was gone!!!! I woke up the next morning and all u could see was a tiny pin hole where it had healed up. I could not believe it! I had that red, ugly, deep cyst for so long and just like that it was gone. It had to be the silver! hope this helps anyone out there. Peace :)

I applied collodial silver on open wounds on my face (acne left-overs) and they practically healed before my very eyes. Also, I once had a hang nail I thought I’d have to go get lanced and after applying C.S. a few times it was bettter…it may not “heal” acne but it sure seems to heal acne symptoms.

Of course CS is not a cure of acne. It is just something to help the healing of existing problematic acne. You should re-do your tests to analyze this hypothesis instead.

Acne is mainly caused by unstable hormones interacting with unnatural foreign chemicals in your body. If you eat foods full of preservatives, meats/dairy filled with antibiotics/hormones, and keep them in chemically treated plastic containers, your body is most likely to have a continuing bad reaction. None of that stuff is natural and it all lacks the essential vitamins and minerals required for our bodies to function well.

But the number one thing you can do to prevent acne is drink plenty of purified water. At least 8 cups of water a day. Our bodies are mostly made up of water and thus need water to heal and prevent disease of all kinds. (Soda pop and other sweet drinks do not count, and probably help create acne rather than solve the problem.)

A few months ago i was taking CS every morning to cure my acne and it started working. I then eventually had used the whole bottle and was not able to buy another only until another month because i ordered it online. In that one month, those little suckers had been popping up on my face again. I then got the CS and I have been taking it for about two weeks now and there has been no change, in fact more pimples have appeared on my face. What I’m trying to say is that CS is not a reliable source it get rid of acne.

I am not a proponant of taking colloidal silver internally, but I was given a bottle as a gift when I was sick. I never actually took any, but was considering going to a dermatologist for sebaceous hyperplasia. I decided to start putting a drop of the colliodal silver on my sebaceous hyperplasia every morning and night. While I would not suggest anyone taking this stuff by the spoonful, I have watched my spots shrink in size and would recommend that this is worth trying for anyone with skin issues. ONLY topically! I have only been doing this a few weeks, and hope to see these spots shrink away with this home remedy instead of anything invasive, which is my only option at the dermatologist.
