So far you understand that your acne is an important message that something is going very wrong internally. And you now have a solid understanding of just what’s causing all the trouble.

Now let’s get down to business “fixing” the problem. Balancing hormones is the first key step to doing that.

I know we covered this a little bit in the last lesson, but I’m going to elaborate more in this lesson.

Your hormonal “river”

Think of it this way…

Your body is constantly making hormones. Think of those as a river (hormones) flowing into a pond (your internal system). Then your body is constantly “deactivating” and getting rid of these hormones after they have been “used”…

Think of that as the stream of water running out of the pond.

But what would happen if you dammed up the stream of water leaving the pond?

The “pond” would overflow and flood the surroundings.

Well, that’s what happens if something stops excess and “used” hormones from “flowing” out of your system?

They get “all out of balance”…leading to acne and many other chronic hormonally related health problems.

And if you suffer from acne then I can assure you this is happening to you.

So what’s causing this to happen anyway? And how do you stop it?

Well, first you need to understand how your body “deactivates” and gets rid of hormones…

(Stay with me, because this is about to get very interesting…)

How your body “deactivates” hormones

First hormones are produced by various glands throughout your system. These hormones are then transported to the various hormone receptors throughout your system where they cause their effect.

Think of the hormones themselves as “keys” and hormone receptors as “key holes”. They will only “fit” in the hormone receptor they are designed for.

Anyway, what happens after these hormones are “used” by the hormone receptors?

They are then transported by your blood and lymph to your liver. Your liver then “deactivates” them by adding another piece to them so they can’t “fit” into any hormonal receptor “key holes”.

These deactivated hormones are then expelled by your bowels and kidneys.

Don’t worry about understanding all this perfectly. Just get the basic concept here…

Hormones must get “deactivated” and then get  out of your system after they have been used or they will become chronically imbalanced.

The problem is this “hormonal highway” can get messed up so hormones can’t get out of your system.

The end result is CHRONIC hormonal imbalance and the dreaded acne!

Colloidal Silver for Acne Treatment

Does colloidal silver cure acne? Or is it just another acne treatment scam?

Colloidal silver is heavily touted on the web as to cure acne. I’ve tested colloidal silver acne treatment thoroughly. Here are my findings…

Colloidal silver – what it is

Colloidal silver is silver that is processed usually with electricity in a specific way to make it into a colloidal state. Which simply means its “particle” sizes are so small the silver stays suspended in liquid.

Silver in this colloidal state has unique properties…

Because the particles are so small they move in and out of the walls of cells readily. This not only make is highly adsorbable by cells, but also it prevents it from building up to toxic levels. Any excess colloidal silver will simply “pass through” the cell wall and be flushed out of the system.

That’s why colloidal silver can’t poison you.

But what’s more interesting is silver in the ultra fine particle size of colloids has a very large surface area. And when bacteria, viruses, and fungus come into contact with the colloidal silver particles the silver kills them.

And what’s more interesting is it will kill the harmful organisms without harming any healthy cellular tissue.

So you can see colloidal silver is very useful for so many things. But does it cure acne?

Colloidal silver acne treatment – Does it work?

I’ve tested colloidal silver for acne treatment thoroughly. I’ve tested various brands, doses, and potencies. I tested it both internally and externally. I even bought a colloidal silver generator and made my own colloidal silver using several different methods and tried to cure acne with that.

And I can tell you from thorough direct testing that colloidal silver does NOT cure acne. And it has not proven to even help with acne symptoms.

Sorry…wish I had better news.

But why not? If colloidal silver kills bacteria why can’t it cure acne?

The basic reason is even though colloidal silver may be killing acne bacteria it is not “fixing” the ROOT problem causing acne. Acne bacteria do not cause acne. (See The Acne Bacteria Myth to understand why.)

And no acne bacteria killers whether its synthetic acne anti-biotics or acne topical creams, or even natural bacteria killers like colloidal silver can cure acne.

They just can’t.

So use colloidal silver where it has been proven effective. But don’t waste your money if you’re trying to cure acne with colloidal silver as an acne alternative treatment. It won’t work.

Overall, it tends to be far less irritating then most benzoyl peroxide products.

Does it work…? What you can expect from Proactiv Solutions

Honestly, don’t expect any miracles. For many of you it will help…no doubt about it. But for just as many others it will cause the same dryness, redness, irritation, and peeling that most benzoyl peroxide products cause.

Should you buy it?

First understand…Proactiv Solutions does not cure acne. It only helps to reduce some of the symptoms of acne.

Hypoglycemic index and acne, the fatal flaw

The hypoglycemic index in theory seems like a useful indicator of your bodies blood sugar response to foods. However, in practice its pretty much useless.

Let me explain…

More important then how quickly a food is metabolized into simple sugars is whether or not at any one given time you eat so much of these type of foods that you overload your system with sugar.

Your “sugar reservoir”…the CRUCIAL missing piece to the hypoglycemic index and acne puzzle

Think of your system as a bathtub…

You have water running into the tub, and you have water running down the drain.

Well, the water running into the tub would be the sugar entering your system as a result of food metabolization. The pressure at which the water ran into the tub would be the value of that particular food on the hypoglycemic scale. The volume at which the water flowed into the tub would be the amount of that food or food combination you consumed. So you could have high pressure but not much volume.

The water running out would be the sugar being burnt as energy by your metabolic rate. Your muscular tissue burns most of the sugar, and the more active you are (exercise) the more sugar you burn.

If you fill the tub faster then the water runs out eventually the tub is going to overflow. And this overflow would be akin to overwhelming your system with too much sugar from food metabolization.

Well, the tub in this analogy would be your body’s “sugar reservoir” which is primarily your muscles and your liver. The more muscle you have the larger your sugar reservoir. Your body will store most of the sugar to be used as energy in the muscle tissue and the liver.

But what happens once the muscles and liver are totally loaded to capacity with sugar?

Well your body deals with excess sugar in 2 ways…

1. It excretes it through the kidneys in the urine.

2. The liver converts it into long-chain triglycerides (lard) to be stored as fat.

“Overflowing” your “sugar reservoir”…the disastrous results

So if you “overflow the bath tub” what you’re doing is overloading your blood stream with lard. The same blood and lymph that supplies your skin is also transporting lard to the fat cells where it is stored until you burn it off through physical exercise.

Loading your blood and lymph with this excess lard is what causes that greasy forehead look. So you do not want to run high blood “fat” levels by ingesting too many carbohydrates and simple sugars at any one time.

In addition to that, to deal with all the blood sugars that overwhelmed your system your body has to excrete a surge of insulin and other androgens at one time. All these hormones in your blood at one time overwhelm your liver’s ability to deactivate and expel them. So overflowing the “tub” upsets hormonal balance.

The key here is not “overflowing” the tub. If the water is running out of the tub quickly due to a high metabolic rate then you can ingest more sugars and starches. And in fact at times of high physical activity you need more sugars and starches.

It is not so much the rate at which foods turn to sugar (what the hypoglycemic index of a food reveals) that is important, but whether you overwhelm your system with too much sugar at any one time (the volume). So you can see why the hypoglycemic index is too simplistic a perspective when it comes to acne.
