Well, yes and no…

As an anti-bacterial it can help lesson the symptoms of skin inflamed with acne bacteria. But many of you are going to sensitive to it.

But just like ALL topical acne treatments, it can’t cure acne. The only way to do that is internally. (See The Acne Cure E-Tutorial to discovery how.)

Tea tree oil – The bottom line

Yes, no doubt about it tea tree oil does kill acne bacteria and it will reduce the symptoms of acne. But it won’t cure it.

How to use tea tree oil for topical acne treatment

In my experience many acne sufferer’s skin is very sensitive to tea tree oil. So you need to start out with a very mild dose and experiment with just a small part of your skin.

If your skin is aggravated by it then either opt for a lower dose or opt of another acne treatment all together.

Here is how I recommend you use it…

Get straight tea tree oil and dilute it in pure aloe vera gel. Add only a drop or two to start with per ounce of aloe.

First of all, you shouldn’t be using soap to cleanse your face at all. Soap is very drying, therefore your body wants to compensate for this lack of moisture by adding it’s own and producing more oil on your face. You need to find a cleanser for your skin type, and very importantly a moisturizer so your face stays hydrated. I.e, when it’s hydrated it will not need to produce excess oil. And as admin says, tea tree oil is not going to make your face greasy. Actually, if too strong of a concentration of it is applied it can really dry out the skin. They are also correct in the fact that these products are used to reduce inflammation etc. Don’t pay attention to people that say that acne is not internal and that diet does not effect it. It most definitely does. There was a study compiled to research teens in a separate country (inconvenient I forgot the name, yes) who’s diet consisted of plenty of veggies and was very low in refined sugars. There was not one case of acne in those teens.
There are other clues, such as other ethnic groups that are known to have healthy diets and beautiful skin (example I immediately think of is the Japanese). And, celebrities. With their diet and exercise, it’s much easier for their skin to stay camera pretty, even with the make up they wear. Notice when Brittany Spears stopped working, ate a lot of junk food and got fat, she had more breakouts.

I study beauty therapy at college and it is a known fact that putting soap on the skin is the worst thing that you can do for it. Acne is not something that can be cured unfortunatly. But people who suffer from spots dont nesesarily have acne, i use pure tea tree oil directly on my spots every night and it dries them out very well. You just need to make sure you keep the skin well moisturised aswell. A very good line of products for acne prone skin is dermalogica!

i love tea tree! of course it doesn’t cure acne, but at least it helps for drying pimples much faster. Helps the healing of scars and to prevent acne… But you must try for yourself, our skins are not equal. Cheers

It works really well. I have large painful breakouts right now, no head in sight, and it really shrinks them! I normally use honey but its hard to get the honey in the deep breakouts. The tea tree has been great. Just be sure to apply moisturizer, like jojoba oil, to nourish the skin and prevent more blemishes.

I have had acne since I was 10 years old-I am now 46—the biggest cause, folks, is your hormones– girls and women, you are reacting to the androgens in your skin– I take an androgen blocker called spironolactone -you can have your doctor or derm prescribe it- boys and men cant take it– I also cleared up the rest of my acne and rosacea by pouring tea tree oil into my Cetaphil cleanser, and shaking it up good– that cleared up the nasty styes I was getting in my eyelash follicles… I think that it does help alot… and at my age I have tried EVERYTHING….

I am 14. my acne used to be slightly severe not really that bad. in the laast year it has went completely crazy! i tried tea tree oil, and at first it seemed to make it worst but after about a week my pimples started shrinking. I use tea tree oil only when i break out or get a zit. i apply at night so in the morning they have shrank in size and then i wash my face with an acne cleanser. the tea tree oil acts as a moisturizer but i still use moisturizing cleansers and lotions sometimes to keep things balanced…and yes
i’ve changed a lot of my eating habits too just to keep it all under control.

can we use tee tree oil straight on our skin or do we have to mix it with something?

I have always had a pimple problem until I started using tea tree oil. I use a product called Thursday plantation that is tea tree based and just so happens to have all organic ingredients! I use the acne face wash, gel and blemish stick as well as the shower gel and hand and body lotion. Since using this product I have stopped taking prescribed antibiotics that the doctor recommend for my acne which I am so happy about because it is all natural and now I can stop taking a pill everyday. I truly believe my skin has cleared up because of using tea tree and drinking a lot of water, preferably bottled or filtered.

Wow some things ppl say like they know something is really agrivating. Acne isn’t always just from oily skin, or bacteria on the out side. It can be caused by what your ingesting as well. Acne can be your bodys way of telling you that you are toxic. Try taking a detox. If it gets worse then clears up then you have your answer, you need to stop putting junk/poison in your body. Try tea tree oil, grape fruit extract, wichhazel, and willow bark oil I think, its a bark oil can’t remember which one. if you have acne along with severely oily skin. For Les oilyskin try strawberry, acai, blueberry, black berry, and raspberry oil. I think bearberry help also. And none of those smell horrible. Don’t use alcohol! Witchhazel is so much better and won’t make your face itch and dry and make your body start making insane amounts of oil to compensate after.
